Edit
**Short answer:** Deal activity is shrinking from January to May 2022, and there is no evidence of seasonality. Only five months are covered, so this is a short-run pattern rather than a long-run trend.
**What the time dimension is.** The dataset has no date column on each funding round. Time comes only from the five monthly tables (Jan–May 2022). The `Founded` column is the company's founding year, not a funding date, so I did not use it as a trend axis.
**Deal count (the most reliable signal).** Rounds per month were 115 (Jan), 96 (Feb), 98 (Mar), 95 (Apr) and 42 (May). Volume dropped about 17% from January to February and then held flat at roughly 95–98 through April.
- May's 42 rounds look like a partial month. The card notes that some May rows are misaligned or blank, and only about 20–21 of them have a usable amount. The collapse in May is therefore probably overstated.
**Disclosed funding value (unreliable).** Summed USD amounts were about $4.10B (Jan), $3.49B (Feb), $2.85B (Mar), $45.3B (Apr) and $0.31B (May).
- January to March drifts down by roughly 30%, but April is about 16 times March.
- That April figure is almost certainly distorted. April has a few very large rounds ($5B, $2.5B, $1.7B, and three at $1.2B). It also has inconsistently formatted amounts such as "$11.700,000", "$624.800,000", "$221.5" and "$23", which can be mis-scaled when parsed.
- I would not read April as a real surge without cleaning those amounts first.
**Typical round size (median).** Median disclosed round size was $5.45M (Jan), $6.0M (Feb), $11M (Mar), $30M (Apr) and $5.5M (May). It rises through April, which suggests fewer but larger rounds, then falls back in May. That fall is on a thin, partly blank sample.
**Disclosure.** "Undisclosed" amounts were 6 of 115 rounds in January, 7 of 96 in February, 12 of 98 in March, and 10 of 95 in April. May shows 0, but many May rows are blank or misaligned, so that zero is not meaningful.
**Conclusion.**
- Deal count looks mildly shrinking, then flat, with a sharp May drop that is likely a data-completeness artifact.
- Total value cannot be trusted as a trend because of April's outliers and formatting problems.
- Seasonality cannot be assessed with five consecutive months in a single year.
Results come from the monthly aggregate query (step 0) and the undisclosed-amount counts (steps 4 and 6).
