Edit
**The most surprising finding is that this isn't a clean list of funding rounds.** The same company and the same stage show up in several monthly files with very different amounts, and the April figures are consistently much larger than the earlier ones.
**What the data shows** (rows from my queries on the repeated companies):
- Only 14 company names appear more than once across the monthly files, and the 19 blank-name rows from May are counted as one of them.
- Many of those repeats reuse the same funding stage with a different amount. DealShare is "Series E" in both February ($45,000,000) and April ("$624.800,000"), roughly 14x higher.
- The other repeats show the same pattern between the earlier month and April:
- Chargebee: $250M to $468.2M.
- Xpressbees (Series F): $300M to $577.6M.
- Licious: $150M to $488.7M.
- Classplus (Series D): $70M to $129.5M.
- Mamaearth: $52M to $110.8M.
- Livspace (Series F): $180M to "$431.6", which I read as $431.6M.
- Pine Labs appears four times (Jan $20M, Feb $150M, Mar $50M, Apr $1.2B), and the amounts don't follow one round-by-round progression.
- A "funding round" in this data may therefore be a cumulative total, a re-announcement, or a restated figure. Summing the Amount column across months would badly double-count and inflate totals.
**Why the amounts can't be trusted as numbers:**
- Amount is stored as text, with malformed entries like "$624.800,000", "$110.800,000", "$129.500,000" and "$431.6". These mix European-style separators or drop the magnitude entirely.
- The most common Amount value is "Undisclosed" (35 rows), followed by blank (25 rows). Together that is about 60 of the 446 rows, before counting the unparseable entries.
- Some exact duplicates sit in one month. Lummo is $80M Series C in both January and February, and NowPurchase has two identical January rows ($2.4M, Seed). Securden has two April rows that differ only in number formatting ("$11.700,000" vs "$11,700,000").
- The May file is the worst. Of its 42 rows, 19 have a blank company name, and the one populated amount sits in a misaligned row (Amount `6400000`, Stage `$Series A`).
Any total-funding or average-round-size analysis has to clean the amounts first and decide how to treat repeat companies. The raw totals would overstate funding, and the April figures are the most suspect. I don't have an external source to confirm which of the conflicting amounts is correct.
