Edit
**The most surprising finding is that this isn't a clean list of one funding round per startup.** The same companies reappear in several months with the same stage but very different amounts, and the April figures are often inflated or malformed. Summing the Amount column would therefore badly mislead.
Evidence from the duplicate-company check (step-1, 14 company names repeating across the monthly tables):
- **Pine Labs appears four times**: $20M in January, $150M in February, $50M in March and **$1.2 billion in April**, where the stage is just "undisclosed". The April figure is 8 to 60 times the others.
- **Same stage, higher amount in April**:
- Xpressbees is Series F in both months: $300M in February, then $577.6M in April.
- Chargebee is $250M in February, then $468.2M in April.
- Livspace is Series F in both months: $180M in February, then "$431.6" in April.
- Licious is Series F in both months: $150M in March, then $488.7M in April.
- Mamaearth is $52M in January, then "$110.800,000" in April.
- Classplus is Series D in both months: $70M in March, then $129.5M in April.
- **Malformed numbers**: April values such as "$110.800,000", "$624.800,000" (DealShare, against $45M in February), "$129.500,000" and "$11.700,000" mix period and comma separators. I can't tell from this data why April differs. These look like conversion or formatting artefacts, or possibly cumulative totals, not genuine new rounds.
- **Exact duplicates**: NowPurchase is listed twice in January with an identical $2.4M Seed, and Securden twice in April with $11.7M, once written "$11.700,000" and once "$11,700,000".
- **Swiggy** shows $700M in January, then "Undisclosed" in April.
The Amount column is also unreliable on its own (step-0). Of the 30 most common values, "Undisclosed" is the single most frequent at 35 rows, and another 25 rows are blank. Together that is the largest "amount" category in the whole dataset, bigger than any actual dollar figure ($1,000,000 is next at 20). Separately, 19 rows have a blank company name. They come from May's misaligned rows, such as a "$6400000 / Series A" row with no company.
Any total or average funding figure from this data needs de-duplication by company. It also needs the April amounts normalised, and "Undisclosed", blank and misaligned rows handled explicitly, before it can be trusted.
