Edit
Only two columns can be treated as numeric: **Founded** (a year) and **Amount** (funding in USD). Amount is stored as text such as "$1,000,000" or "Undisclosed", so I converted it to a number. The summary covers all five monthly tables combined, 446 rows in total (SQL steps 1 and 4).
| Statistic | Founded (year) | Amount (USD) |
|---|---|---|
| Rows with a usable value | 427 of 446 | 385 of 446 |
| Min | 1871 | 11.3 |
| 25th percentile | 2014 | 1,300,000 |
| Median | 2017 | 9,400,000 |
| Mean | 2015.25 | ≈145,567,580 |
| 75th percentile | 2020 | 45,000,000 |
| Max | 2022 | 18,300,000,000 |
| Std. deviation | ≈11.04 | ≈991,545,057 |
**Founded**
- The distribution is concentrated and skewed toward older outliers. The mean (2015.25) sits below the median (2017) because a few very old companies pull it down, with 1871 the earliest.
- The middle half of companies was founded between 2014 and 2020, so the interquartile range is 6 years.
- The standard deviation is about 11 years, which is inflated by those old outliers. Most startups are much more tightly clustered than that suggests.
- 19 rows have no usable year. In the May table, Founded is stored as text, and the card notes some of its rows are misaligned or blank.
**Amount (USD)**
- The distribution is extremely right-skewed. The mean (~$145.6M) is about 15 times the median ($9.4M), so a handful of very large rounds dominate the average. The maximum is $18.3B.
- The standard deviation (~$991.5M) is nearly 7 times the mean, which also reflects those extreme values.
- The middle half of rounds runs from $1.3M to $45M, an interquartile range of about $43.7M. The median or the quartiles describe a typical round better than the mean.
- The minimum of 11.3 is almost certainly a data-entry or parsing artefact, not a real $11 round.
- 61 rows have no numeric amount. The disclosed-amount counts (step 0) show "Undisclosed" as one of the common values. The most common disclosed amounts were $1M (9 rounds) and $10M (8 rounds).
I would treat the $18.3B maximum and the 11.3 minimum as entries to verify before relying on any mean-based figure.
