## Geographic distribution of the funding deals
The dataset has one geographic field, `City Location` (note the double space in the name). Deals are heavily concentrated in a few Indian metros. The city counts come from the two city-count queries I ran (steps 0 and 1) over all 3,044 deals.
**Top cities as recorded (share of 3,044 deals):**
- Bangalore has 700 deals (23.0%).
- Mumbai has 567 (18.6%).
- New Delhi has 421 (13.8%).
- Gurgaon has 287 (9.4%).
- Bengaluru has 141 (4.6%).
- Pune has 105 (3.4%).
- Hyderabad has 99 (3.3%).
- Chennai has 97 (3.2%).
- Noida has 92 (3.0%).
**The raw labels split some cities, so the true concentration is higher than it looks.**
- Bangalore and Bengaluru are the same city: 700 + 141 = **841 deals, about 27.6%**.
- Gurgaon and Gurugram are the same city: 287 + 50 = 337 deals, about 11%. A further 4 rows are spelled `\xc2\xa0Gurgaon` with a stray non-breaking-space character.
- Delhi and New Delhi are the same city: 421 + 34 = 455 deals, about 15%, plus 3 `\xc2\xa0New Delhi` rows.
- The Delhi NCR cluster (New Delhi, Delhi, Gurgaon, Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad) is therefore roughly 880 or more deals, close to 29% of the total.
- Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi NCR together account for about 75% of all deals.
**Long tail.** After the top nine, cities drop quickly: Ahmedabad has 38, Jaipur 30, Kolkata 21, and Indore 13. Chandigarh, Goa, Vadodara, Coimbatore, Kanpur, Nagpur and Bhopal each have 11 or fewer. Singapore (8) and "Pune / US" (4) show a few deals with a location outside India or spanning two places.
**Data quality caveats.**
- Missing locations are about 6% of rows: 171 are the literal string "nan", 6 are blank and 3 are "N/A", about 180 rows in total.
- The inconsistent spellings above (Bangalore/Bengaluru, Gurgaon/Gurugram, Delhi/New Delhi, and the non-breaking-space variants) need normalizing before any city-level ranking.
- Multi-location entries such as "Pune / US" mean the field is not strictly one city per row.
**Conclusion:** Funding is concentrated in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi NCR. Cleaning the labels would put Bangalore first at about 28%, ahead of Mumbai at about 19% and the Delhi cluster at about 29% when combined. Everything else is a thin tail of smaller cities.
