Edit
**The most surprising finding is that the "one row per funding round" tables don't behave like a clean monthly ledger. The same companies show up in several months with wildly different, and often inflated, amounts, and April's figures look systematically off.**
The evidence comes from the cross-month company check (steps 1, 4–8). Only 14 non-blank company names repeat across or within the five monthly tables.
- **Pine Labs appears in all four of Jan–Apr 2022.** Its amounts are $20M in January, $150M in February, $50M in March and $1.2B in April. That is a 60x spread, and the Pine Labs rows carry no stage until April, where the stage is "undisclosed".
- **April amounts for returning companies are much larger than their earlier rows.**
- DealShare: $45M in February, then $624.8M in April (about 14x), both tagged Series E.
- Chargebee: $250M, then $468.2M.
- Xpressbees: $300M, then $577.6M. Both are tagged Series F.
- Licious: $150M, then $488.7M.
- Classplus: $70M, then $129.5M. Both are tagged Series D.
- Livspace: $180M, then "$431.6".
- Mamaearth: $52M, then $110.8M.
- The stage often doesn't change between the two rows (Series E, F or D both times), so a fresh round doesn't explain the jump. It looks more like a data-entry or unit problem in the April table, or a different definition of "amount" (for example, cumulative versus round size). I can't confirm which from this data.
- **Some April amounts are malformed.** Values like "$110.800,000", "$624.800,000", "$468.200,000", "$129.500,000" and "$11.700,000" mix European-style separators into the figures. "$431.6" has lost its magnitude entirely. Securden appears twice in April, once as "$11.700,000" and once as "$11,700,000", so the same amount is written two ways.
- **Other duplicates.** Lummo reports an identical $80M Series C in both January and February. NowPurchase has two identical $2.4M Seed rows in January.
- **The most common "amount" is no amount.** "Undisclosed" is the top value in the Amount column (35 rows, step 0), followed by 25 blanks. Most of the blanks are in May, where 19 rows are empty or misaligned and only one row has a real amount ("6400000", with the stage garbled as "$Series A").
**Practical consequence:** summing `Amount` across the monthly tables, or comparing months, would give badly misleading results. Totals would be dominated by a few suspect April values such as Pine Labs' $1.2B and DealShare's $624.8M. They would also double-count repeat companies and miss most of May. The Amount column is text, so it needs careful cleaning and de-duplication before any aggregate is trusted.
