Edit
**Yes, the dataset has a geographic dimension: the `Location` column, present in all five monthly tables (Jan–May 2022). Funding rounds are heavily concentrated in a few Indian metros.** The counts below combine all five tables, 446 rounds in total, and come from the location breakdowns I ran.
**Concentration in a few cities**
- Bangalore is the largest single label, with 124 rounds (27.8%).
- Mumbai has 62 (13.9%), Gurgaon 48 (10.8%), New Delhi 31 (7.0%) and Chennai 27 (6.1%).
- Those five labels cover about 65.6% of all rounds.
- Noida (15), Hyderabad (14) and Pune (12) follow, then a long tail of cities with 1–6 rounds each.
**Bangalore is understated, and the Delhi region is spread across several labels**
- Bangalore also appears as "Bengaluru" (10) and "Banglore" (6), and "Kormangala" (1) is a Bangalore neighbourhood. Merging the first three gives about 140 rounds, roughly 31% of the data.
- "New delhi" (2, lowercase) is a separate label from "New Delhi" (31).
- The Delhi region as a whole is split across New Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Haryana (5). Together these form a second major hub, roughly comparable to Mumbai and larger than it once combined.
**International and long-tail locations**
- A small share of rounds are abroad: San Francisco (6), Delaware (3), New York (spelled "Newyork", 3), Tokyo (2), London (2), plus single rounds in Amsterdam, Singapore, Israel, Chicago, Palo Alto, Santa Clara and others.
- Smaller Indian cities appear once or twice each, such as Jaipur (6), Ahmedabad (5), Kolkata, Surat, Thane, Coimbatore, Bhopal, Mysore and Chandigarh.
**Data quality issues in the location field**
- 20 rows (4.5%) have a blank location.
- There are misspellings: "Mumba", "Ahemdabad", "Banglore" and "Newyork".
- Some values are not locations at all, such as "Healthcare,Wellness" and "Retail". These look like misaligned rows, consistent with the card's note that some May 2022 rows are misaligned.
- Some are truncated or odd, like "Tiruchirappall", "Vitznau, Luzern," and "Small Towns, Andhra".
**Takeaway:** Funding activity is concentrated in Bangalore, the Delhi NCR cluster (Gurgaon, Noida, New Delhi) and Mumbai, with a thin international and tier-2 tail. Raw counts understate the largest hubs because of spelling variants. Clean the labels before doing any city-level ranking.
